ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Our business is a vintage and sustainable clothing store that has a huge potential, selling thousands of items in its very first year. With people shopping more consciously and the rise of the slow fashion movement, sustainable fashion products are in high demand.
MONETIZATION
This business is just over one year old and has already made over 1,500 organic sales with hundreds of 5 star reviews and thousands of followers which offers invaluable social proof for potential customers. With the first year in any business being the most difficult, this is a massive head start.
Selling Platforms
We sell on 6 platforms. We don't like to put all our eggs in one basket. This way, if sales are slow on one marketplace they will likely pick up on another. These platforms are Depop, Etsy, eBay, Grailed, Facebook Marketplace, and of course our own website using Shopify. We use a software ($30/m) that allows me to easily cross-post listings across all platforms. When an item is sold, I just mark it as sold and it will automatically delist on all platforms. This software is super easy to use and also allows you to list on Poshmark, Macari and Tradesy if desired. I have not listed on these particular marketplaces as they are primarily for the US market. I do sell to the US but most of my customers are in Europe at the moment. Having said that, due to the nature of this business most new customers will be local to you, no matter where you are located. Depop is now where the majority of organic sales are coming from at the moment. As Depop is a really easy to use and its growing fast, we list here and then I can easy cross post to all/any of the other platforms using our Depop listings but this can be done from any platform and you can also list directly on the software from your computer to all platforms.
The huge benefit of selling on these marketplaces is that customers are guaranteed which means you don't need to spend a fortune driving potential customers to a website that they have never heard of. People are searching these marketplaces with the intention to buy. However, there is huge opportunity if someone is willing to put time or knowledge into ads. Google Shopping Ads, Facebook and Instagram Ads, along with TikTok ads are all integrated with the website but I have not ran many campaigns yet.
Email Marketing
There is also the potential to retarget all the previous customers via email marketing campaigns. I have integrated Klayvio to the website to help collect email addresses but I have done very little retargeting. The few emails I have sent out did result in some additional sales. Lots of our customers return without any retargeting so it is a no brainer to advertise to people who have already purchased from you.
For this business, the more products you add the more you sell. This is because each product is different and unique, customers can't wait too long to order as there is mostly only one of each item. This offers scarcity which in business offers a huge advantage in pushing an order through.
For the iventory, EU and UK Shipping is included but anywhere else will be extra. This may be quite expensive due to the amount of stock. I will likely be adding one more order of about 50 items. Depending where you are located I will be able to help with suppliers but I will have some names and tips regardless. Ordering vintage, reworked and dead stock can be done a few ways like by the bale, handpicking or picking individual items from an international seller at a much low price. Ordering bales is the easiest and good suppliers have every good stock, if you order Grade A you are safe. At the moment I prefer handpicking, this way you know exactly the items you are buying. Handpicking is also fun and makes for great social media content. Having so many different items also makes it easy to have content for social media if you are focusing on this. As preloved clothing is becoming a massive industry, there are more wholesalers opening all the time. Some experts believe slow fashion will outgrow fast fashion this decade. This business also enables you to sell various brands that would normally be impossible without huge investment. Another advantage is the large profit margins.
The name of the business, of course rhymes with hipster which people think is really cool. When naming the business a focus was to not restrict the business to vintage clothing incase we decided to start selling new items in the future. We have nearly made it to the top of Google search which helps with some additional traffic.

The following are included in the sale of this business:
The buyer will receive as much after sale support as needed within reason.
I am very experienced in e-commerce but I have started working in a different industry and I have not been able to invest any time to add products and grow the business over the last few months.
On good days, I can add up to 50 listings. However, due to other commitments, I usually only add 50 - 100 listings per month. Therefore, this business would be perfect for someone who is willing to invest the time adding new inventory.
